Act Two: Travelling Through the Sands
It had been about five hours since they had set out for the caravan, about 25 miles hence.
Already, the town of Wildefort lay dwindling in the distance, and the ground, from initial sparse forest, had began to become sandy. The Great Desert lay ahead - over a hundred miles of sand in every direction.
The map that Avalanche held showed that they were about 1/20th of the way there. That was encouraging, to say the least.
The sun had begun to beat down on them. It was getting hot.

Christopher had been drinking his water at a steady rate, and was even thinking of taking his friend's flasks, but decided against it, this was certainly not what he had planned/hoped for, there was was war band of close friends guzzling flagons and sharing viking humor. He couldn't remember the last time he got drunk or bashed a dragon's skull in.... Christopher missed his life as Erland...

Re: Act Two: Travelling Through the Sands
The hours dragged on, and even as Bane's ever-loyal zombie thrall followed in his footsteps, and the sands deepened and widened -
The sun grew hotter and hotter, and the terrain more desert-like in nature, with nary a spot of green in sight - only dunes, dunes and more dunes, stretching as far as the eye could see.
Out of the corner of his eye, Christopher would notice a ripple of sand heading his way.

Christopher stopped and turned towards the approaching anomaly,he squinted trying to get a better look, he then readied his axe at the sight he saw. "Avalanche, you may want to look at this" he pointed with his unarmed hand.

Re: Act Two: Travelling Through the Sands
A crack -
And then something burst out of the ground, taking Bane's minion by surprise -
The two - meter long, monstrous head of a creature mostly heard of in legend but never seen - black, pulsating flesh giving out a vile odor of decay as its eyeless face lunged at the zombie, with its circular mouth of razor - sharp teeth -
A Death Worm. Skin proof against arrows and fire, jaws that could take apart a man in a single bite -
The zombie didn't last more than two seconds before being bitten in half.
Purple light, mingled with blood, leaked from its wounds as it groaned horrendously, in two pieces - then the bottom half fell to the ground, lifeless once more.
The Worm, jaws filled with zombie flesh, shook its head once and roared, spraying the party with a shower of rank, black blood -
And then retreated abruptly, tunneling its way back in the direction it came from. It had had its fill.
It all seemed clear for a moment or so - but anyone observant enough would notice, through the blowing sands and constant, shimmering wave of heat in the horizon....
That there were more ripples. Many, many more ripples. Heading their way.

Cinderblast leapt back as he beast tore the zombie apart. "WOAAAH!" he said in his surprise. Cinderblast marveled at the size of the creature. He had never seen such a thing before. Then he noticed the ripples. "look out!" he said. Cinderblast raised his hand into the air, black flecks of ash swirled up around his small hand. they began to form shapes until finally they created the form of his blade 'morning's flame' Cinderblast held his sword in front of him waiting for the beasts to attack. "Come here you beasties" he said mockingly

"beasts shall be beasts"
Avalanche fashioned an ice blade out of mid air and tossed it from hand to hand.
"too bad I don't have any flesh for you to feed upon"

Re: Act Two: Travelling Through the Sands
With a chorus of earthshaking rumbles, the seven Death Worms burst out of the ground, mouths slobbering in anticipation. Three of them immediately tunneled towards Avalanche, attempting to crack his armour open with force that would crush iron like tin foil, while the other four began drilling towards Cinderblast and Christopher, monstrous girths just visible over the top of the sand.

With a loud roar Cinderblast shot up into the air towards the first deathworm, using the velocity he had gathered from sending blasts of fire behind him from his form's feet. Cinderblast pointed his sword forward and shot straight towards the gaping hole of a mouth that the deathworm had.

Re: Act Two: Travelling Through the Sands
The worm that Cinderblast had attacked snapped it's jaws once, twice, with blinding speed -
With more than enough force to sunder his human body in two.
The rest continued on their way.
